Frequently asked questions

Please find listed below some common questions that have been asked by previous applicants and our answers.

1. Can I apply by post rather than online? We would prefer to receive all applications online, however, should this not be possible, please email the HR Service Centre
2. Can I email NFU Mutual with a question or to follow up my application? If you have a question regarding the role you're applying for, please refer to the external advertisement for individual contact details. If you have a question about our recruitment and employment policy, firstly look through our careers website. If you have any general questions that have not been answered by the website or by this FAQs section, then email the HR Service Centre.
3. Can I apply for more than one role? Yes, but although the selection criteria may be similar most positions are very different. Please think about the type of role that will suit you best and your ultimate goals, and only apply for appropriate vacancies.
4. Can I apply if I don't have a full work-permit? We can only consider your application if you have a full and valid permit to work in the UK. Work Permits (UK) and the Training and Employment Agency issue permission only for specific employment or training. We do not have any roles that fall under these specific employment categories.
5. What can I expect at an interview? Friendly people and lots of questions. We'll want to know all about your background and whether your skills match our core competency framework and the role for which you're applying. Of course, interviews work two ways, so you'll be encouraged to ask questions about NFU Mutual in return.
6. If my application is unsuccessful, can I request feedback? Unfortunately, due to the large number of applications received, we can not offer all applicants feedback.
7. What is the dress code at NFU Mutual? In the office areas the dress code is business dress.
8. Are there lots of social activities? There's a great team atmosphere within NFU Mutual and people tend to work hard and play hard. Most people who work in office-based roles live reasonably locally and so there's generally quite a strong wider social scene here too, as well as great team spirit that can often mean after work get togethers for those who are interested. Plus there are all sorts of sports, social events and activities organised via the Farmers Insurance Sports and Social Club (FISSC).
9. What can I expect on my first day? From day one we will make you feel as welcome as possible. You’ll be greeted by your Line Manager, introduced to the people in your team or department and shown where you’ll be based. We’ll introduce you to the finer points of NFU Mutual, such as how your work and department supports the company as a whole. You’ll also be invited to attend our structured induction programme shortly after beginning your employment with us which will cover your first few months with the company, including attendance at one of our Group Induction events.
